Developing a new form of Walking as Art Practice
The Living Mountain

These moments come unpredictably, yet governed, it would seem, by a law whose working is dimly understood. They come to me most of all after hours of steady walking, with the long rhythm of motion sustained until motion is felt, not merely known by the brain, as the 'still centre' of being.

In the summer of 2021, and funded by Arts Council England, I walked across the country from north to south. The idea was to spend a dedicated period of time deepening my experience of walking for an extended period, and how that could feed into an art practice. I invited other artists (interested in either walking, landscape or both) to join me for short periods along the way. I documented my experience on instagram with photos accompanied by text.
