Working directly from conversations had with members of the 'Madeiran Community' on Jersey during a two-month artistic residency on the island in 2022, this work places those experiences against the Jersey that is visually encountered by the visitor, and perhaps against both a Jersey and a Madeira that are encountered in historical myth and memory. It can in no way provide a comprehensive survey of the overall neglected history of the experiences of the Madeiran diaspora on the island, but it might be a starting point...
